I have lost my password. Can i reset the case?
Yes. Remove the two screws on rear of the case and pull out the HDD tray. Right beneath the USB connector you find a small switch on the printed circuit board marked with "S1". While the case is turned off press the switch and hold. Then turn on the case and hold the switch for the next 10-15 seconds.
But please not, that you also lose all your settings with this procedure.
The case is not being recognised with USB while the network connection still works.
Please take care that your hard drive is set to "master". In most cases new hard drive are set to "cable select" by default.
I cannot mount the case on Linux in network environment.
Meanwhile network shares typically are being mounted with CIFS. But CIFS is not supported by the case. So you have to take the older SMBFS.
Suddenly the case does not react any longer.
This is a problem with older firmware versions, which can cause some cases to seem dead.
In most cases the cases a reachable by a Ping. Please download the actual firmware and upgrade the case.
The firmware upgrade tool does not find my case.
You can upgrade anyway. Just enter the IP address of the case into the appropriate field and choose the firmware file. During the upgrade process, the progress indicator will switch to 0. Then turn off the case and kill the application. The firmware in the case is now already upgraded but could not be verified. Turn on the case again, restart the upgrade tool and upgrade the firmware again.
To hide a personal FTP server, a different port than 21 is willingly used. But for currently unknown reason, both the router and the case must be set to Port 21 to be able to establish a connection.
